18th c. Betty Lamp Tidy
An 18th C. betty lamp tidy/standard in original finished surface.
Constructed of a single body of lathe turned maple wood with an iconic profile featuring a heavily turned base decorated with scribed lines. The top features hundreds of channeled lines to reduce surface contact and prevent the edges from shrinking and cracking. Survives in an overall very good state of condition with a large shrinkage crack formed prior to its construction.
Retains exceptional surface qualities. From a 30+ year collection. New England origin. Ca. 1780. 7"T.
