18th c. Peel
An 18th c. cooking peel in original red paint.
Constructed entirely of northeastern white pine wood. An applied handle confidently contributes to its design with a hand grip on one end and tapers thin in the medial section.
A larger sized paddle is applied via a rabbit joint and secured with three furniture grade rosehead nails.
Retains a fabulous painted surface, dry and rich with as-descended qualities. Remains in excellent condition given age and use with scattered traces of light use.
While simplistic, condition, surface elements and form make this peel an excellent addition to a collection for the collector seeking an example surpassing average examples.
New England origin. Ca. 1780-1800. 58"T.
