19th c. Herb Dryer
A 19th c. herb dryer in original chocolate brown paint.
Constructed from a single body of pine wood, shaped in a tapered format and pierced slightly above midway up to accommodate hanging. Two whittled ash wood rods are inserted for hanging herbs and are secured with two tiny iron square nails.
Charming, simple, and practical. The makers' obvious intent being strictly utilitarian. Retains a fabulous undisturbed painted surface with visual elements of historic use boldly present. Excellent original condition. Scarcely found fully painted.
New England. Ca. 1820. 14"T x 13"W.
