A 19th C. miniature hanging shelf in original black paint with an old applied varnish finish.
 
Constructed of pine wood with an applied scalloped shelf supported by a short shaled bracket via small hand cut iron nails. The back showcases a wonderfully cut profile with volute ears sitting above a relief carved laying stalwart lion.
 
Survives in an excellent state of condition given age and use with a fine historic surface. Charming in appearance and size. VT origin. Ca. 1860. 8"T.
