19th c. Miniature Utility Box

An early 19th C. hanging utility box in original unfinished surface.

 

Constructed of 1/4" thick pine wood with early hand cut iron nail joining. A demilune shaped backboard adorns the back while the body portrays a canted design.

 

Retains a quality, historic surface with heavily oxidized color and visible traces of light use. A charming size at 7"T x 3 5/8"W x 4"D. Northeast origin, likely New England. Ca. 1830.
