19th c. Painted Ladle
A 19th c. wooden ladle in original oyster white and black paint.
Formed from the solid from a single piece of maple wood with some figuring showing at its bowl. The handle is faceted with a tiny finial at its tip and tapers gently to a formed curvature to meet its bowl. The bowl itself is very well formed, deep and finely executed with an egg-shaped profile for pouring.
Remains in superlative original condition with a fine painted surface being textured with anomalies. An old varnish finish accompanies its paint and is of quality age, possibly being original.
American. Ca. 1850. 16"L.
