19th c. Painted Pipe Rack
A vibrant 19th c. painted pipe holder with an attached match safe in original red paint.
Constructed entirely of pine wood with a heart shaped backboard, precisely cut with chamfered edges. The barrel shaped match safe is attached via small iron nail joining. A pipe rack with five pieced holes for pipes is attached via small iron nail joining as well.
Likely utilized as a public pipe rack in a public smoking room, a popular lounge area for men to smoke and socialize after dinners.
Remains in a superb stste of original condition with extrodinarily rich surface elements showing excessive crazing and craquelure.
