19th c. Treen Cup
A 19th c. treenware cup in unfinished surface.
Constructed from a single block of maple wood and formed using hand tools. A generous handle protrudes and is pierced with a squared profile. The exterior and interior were both likely rough cut using drawknife and refined gradually.
Remains in an overall good state of as-desceded condition with a shrinkage crack (as shown) visible and being consistent with age.
Retains excellent surface properties with original rasp finishing marks visible and exhibits quality patina on the interior and handle.
Northeast origin. Ca. 1830-1860. 3 3/4"T.
