Early Flax Comb
A 19th c. flax comb in original surface.
Constructed entirely from pine wood with a long body, pierced with two cutouts for hand and foot holds while hackling flax.
The block situatied mid body accommodates a series of crudely carved wooden pegs, each unique in itself.
Retains an exceptionally historic surface, free from cleaning and exhibiting a strong visual representation of use and the descent of time. Simply fomed yet powerful in appearance.
Northeast origin. Ca. 1780-1830. 32"L.
