Early Maple Burl Master Salt
An ealry maple burl wood master salt in original finish.
Constructed from a choice block of maple burl and lathe turned. Execution is apparently by a very skilled turner with definition in mind. The bowl is tapered with a crease between two centric horizontal rings and sits above a footed base ornamented with a single scribed line.
Its original finish remains intact showing virtually no signs of use indicating a gentle lifespan. Surface characteristics are ideal with deep color bringing out the striations of organic wood.
Northeast origin. Ca. 1820. 2 7/8" T x 3 1/16"W.
