Early Treen Master Salt (SOLD)

Early Treen Master Salt (SOLD)

An unusual early treen master salt in original red paint.

Constructed from the block and profiled with a tapered exterior. The interior is hollowed symmetrically to match its exterior and serve as a basin for holding the controlled amount of salt. It is clear the original maker favored function, practicality and preventative measure of accidental tipping over an elaborate form as salts made of wood are commonly lathe turned.

A fabulously painted exterior, top, and partial interior serve as both a finishing product and added decorative value.

Retains superb paint surface qualities, rich with patina and undisturbed characteristics. Excellent in-period used condition given age and use.

New England. Ca. 1800. 5"L x 3 1/8"W x 1 13/16"T
