Exceptional 19th c. Clock Shelf
A 19th c. hanging clock shelf in original varnish finish over black painted edges.
Constructed of clear pine wood and joined with small iron nails. The maker employed an exuberant design, utilizing both curvilinear aspects and trefoil cutouts, each highlighted on its chamfered edge with old black paint. The top is modeled with a cupids bow cutout also reflecting a heavily chamfered edge.
Remains in excellent condition, wonderfully preseved despite its obviously frequent use. The varnish is boastful in appearance, being heavily textured and rich with visual historic properties.
