The subjects are two endearing kittens and a puppy, discovered to be by the viewer, in a sorrowful state. During a moment of what could be imagined as joyful play, a pipe has been knocked down from an off view table or something of the like, and broken with a burning ember. Contents of the room, such as a partial view of a rug, blue and white transferware dish and large wickerwork basket are appropriately shown.
Executed well with appropriate attention to detail and captures a lifelike moment between playful animals. Signed "Baumier 1936" in the lower right corner. 
Remains in superlative original condition having never been framed.
