Late 19th c. Gameboard

A superb late 19th c. gameboard in an oyster white ground with black checkered playing field over a bittersweet colored primer.

Constructed of pine wood with applied pine wood moldings attached via iron wire nail joining.

Retains a beautiful painted surface exhibiting historic properties such as brush strokes and anomalies. Overall excellent condition given age, use, and materials used, with stable, quirky shrinkage. Displays beautifully. New England or New York State origin. Ca. 1890. 12 3/4" x 12 7/8".
