Lunenburg County Gameboard (SOLD)
An early 20th c. polychrome painted gameboard in vibrant light mustard, red and deep green paint.
Constructed from a single body of pine wood set intonan applied wooden frame made of pine wood and attached via small iron nails.
The face is wonderfully executed to form a Parcheesi playing board and extends to all edges. The maker employed the use of a straight edge and compass to scribe the foundation of the playing field out as well as form decorative starting fields in each corner. Oversized entrance spaces feature oversized red dots each formed with compass work as opposed to the normality of plainly painting circular patterns often seen amongst Parcheesi boards. "HOME" is brightly lit, contrasting against a red home square titling the game over sequence. The use of green, red and mustard or yellow colors have historic use in Germanic settled Lunenburg County.
The opposing side features a checkered playing field in vinrant red and black and also is laid out in a grid pattern using scribe work.
Remains in a superlative state of condition with vibrancy intact. Surface characteristics of its paint remain ideal with crazing and craquelure.
