Painted Fruit Basket
A ca. 1900 fruit basket in original buttersweet paint.
Constructed of pine wood slats which overlap in bentwood form. A skeletal system of rim and base ribs reinforces the slatwork and is comprised of ash wood. A cut pine wood base is inserted into its bottom and attached via small iron nails.
Retains a beautiful painted surface with vibrant color and superb surface qualities, suggesting a used and cared for life.
New England origin. 11 1/2"W x 7"T x 5 1/4"D.
