Scarce 19th c. Butter Stamp
A scarce 19th c. butter stamp in original red paint.
Constructed from a single body of lathe turned pine wood with a tapered profile and knob handle.
A hand carved outline of a large thistle is shown with a waffle weave pattern and is surmounted by wheat leaves. A chip carved border finishes the edge.
Survives in an excellent state of original used conditionnwith a fine painted surface showcasing historic surface properties and pleasing color.
