Southern Watercolor
An early 20th c. watercolor on paper depicting a southern homestead during daily life.
A small salt box home displays a vibrant array of points of interest, including cooperage products on the overhung porch in various colors, attention to detail of glazing in windows, and two quaint flower pots in the lower window.
Near the bottom, a small child can be seen carrying a basket on his head with a spotted dog in divertissement.
A signature of what appears to be J.E.L. Jerome is situated in the lower left corner.
Remains in overall very good original condition with minor foxing being consistent with age. Mounted on old matboard and in a natural wood frame. Charming in display and size.
Likely North Carolina or South Carolina. Ca. 1910. 15 5/8"W x 11 3/4"T.
