"Stoves" Sign

"Stoves" Sign

A late 19th c or early 20th c. miniature wooden sign in original oyster white paint.

Made from a single plank of pine wood with beveled corners and original iron screw eye hangers. The face features stenciled letters in Roman font applied with black paint. The proper left side features a wonderfully gestured pointing hand, a long since used symbol highlighting importance.

Remains in overall good weathered condition with an old shrinkage crack and elements of dirt and patina present. A charming size with scarcely found content.

Northeast origin. Ca. 1900 11 7/8"W.
